Bike Riding
Provence is one of France's most popular regions for bicycle tours. The picturesque villages, the quiet country roads, the fields of grapevines of the Cote du Rhone combined with the range of gentle cycling through the plains, the hilltop villages and the challenging slopes of Mont Ventoux provide an experience to suit all from the seasoned professional to the amateur cyclist.
Our home in Sablet will suit you whether you have just been on an organised cycling tour and need a rest for a while or whether you want to go cycling in the area at your own pace.
We have secure bicycle storage under cover in our garage right next to the house. You do not have to cart your bikes all the way from home. There are bicycle hire firms in nearby Orange and they deliver.
Their are an enormous number of cycling options ranging from visiting neighbouring villages a few kilometers away to circuits through villages from 30kms to 100kms depending on how serious you take your riding. You can stick to the plains, try a few hill villages, like Sablet or you can really test yourself by climbing Mont Ventoux whose fothills are only 20kms from our home.
The following are just a few of the options :
This a ride of approximately 30Kms through the lovely villages of Seguret, Roaix, Rasteau and Cairanne. Mainly flat with a small rise into Seguret and as you can see from the photo opposite Cairanne is perched above the plains of the Cote du Rhone.

A similar distance is a route through Villedieu and the historic Roman village of Vaison
Vaison La Romaine
A little further, about 50 Kms is the route through Capentras. On the way you pass through the famous Gigondas wine region and the delightful village of Beaume de Venice. This is a fairly flat route with slight rises coming into Gigondas and Beaume.

For the serious riders you can try the trip to L'Isle sur La Sorge and Fontaine de Vaucluse a reasonably hilly trip of about 100Kms but the views at the end are worth the effort

Or travel about the same distance East or South East and you will find Avignon and the incredible Pont du Gard
